Red>Orange

The red Popas seem to be going a bit more orange these days. Still pretty, but a tiny disappointment. I'm hoping they don't fade much more. Their gold/green siblings haven't faded much after hitting the 4 month mark so maybe we'll be lucky.

Red Popas

The majority of the popa offspring have looked just like their gold parents, but recently I found a couple reddish froglets. I'm excited to see how their colors turn out in a year or so.

Mother's Day Tribute

Here's a little ode to some of the gorgeous girls in my collection.

Mama Cristo whose babies are even better looking than her

Scarface Cristo is a devoted mom
One of the chubby toad girls
Gorgeous hopeful CDA girl. Not a peep in 1 1/2 years and very alluring to her male companion

Though the Salt Creek girls are hard to tell apart, they are amazing moms

Such devotion!
Slow and steady wins the race for the pretty popa girls

Though mama Basti doesn't much like her photo taken, she is one fantastic mom

This Grannie girl isn't very interested in her suitor, but hopefully age will change that

Sirensis lovebirds

This little Darkland female is on her way home to meet her new mate. Thank you Gabe, Ed, Chris, and of course Eric M!

Pretty Popa Pumilio Girl

While the new acquisitions remain in questionable status, I thought I'd post a nice photo of one of the Popa girls. I found tads in the water for this trio earlier today.

Baby Shots

Just when I was about to give up... I found this in the BFS viv this morning. Without seeing any tads in the broms, or feeding from the mom, I thought that this clutch had just been abandoned. Super excited to find this little one!

And this one.

Tales from the Frog Room

A few updates from the frog room. The Frye Darkland pair unfortunately turned out to be two very volatile males, which quickly had to be separated; the Frye Golfitos have been cautiously getting to know their new home; and the rest of the quarantined frogs got a clean bill of health from Wasatch Exotic Pet Care and went into their permanent homes this week. The fine spot Bastimentos and Rambalas settled in and started exploring right away. It's been difficult to get pictures, but here are a couple that show their coloring fairly well.

One of the Golfitos has decided this film canister is his/her favorite spot to hang out.  I can almost always find him/her there.

I found one of the Popa kids running around today. This is the first time I've seen them since right after they came OOTW over two months ago.

And lastly, the first of the Bastimentos Salt Creek kids went to their new home with Ed. I couldn't be happier with this placement! He took the first calling male from my F1s and an unrelated female that I purchased with the group. She was too young to sex until she paired with my male last month so I figured she'd be a good match for this little guy. I know Ed will take great care of them!

First Pumilio Isla Popa OOTW

He's still hiding in the safety of the bromeliad. I can't wait to see all of him! There's also a second froglet in the center of the brom behind him. It's not quite ready to come out.

Pumilio Isla Popa (Golden)

It's been a bit since I posted about these guys and with good reason. The male from the trio was gone pretty quickly. I can only guess at an overload of parasites as the cause. I've been waiting to find a comparable male since my girls tested negative. I was able to pick up a very nice little male from a DB member recently. The girls and this guy are now finally in their permanent home and he's been calling like crazy. I love it when things work out.

And a FTS. It's a bit old, before the rest of the leaf litter was added and plants grew in a bit, but I didn't want to disturb them to clean off the front glass.

** Edit: I came back a couple hours later and found these. Glad I didn't disturb them.

Pumilio Isla Popa Golden - 2011 Imports

I truly had not planned on picking up any more frogs this soon, but these golden Isla Popa Pumilios were just gorgeous and Marcus Breece, with Simply Natural Dart Frogs, couldn't be a nicer guy. These pictures are from the moment of arrival. The male started calling right after I put him in the QT tub.
