Red>Orange

The red Popas seem to be going a bit more orange these days. Still pretty, but a tiny disappointment. I'm hoping they don't fade much more. Their gold/green siblings haven't faded much after hitting the 4 month mark so maybe we'll be lucky.

A Super Sad Day

Over the last few weeks I realized I have a voracious egg eater in the Cristobal group; about 25 or so recent eggs and tads. I had thought it was possibly one of the now adult F1s that I have yet to pull, but also had a sneaking suspicion it was Scar. I got my answer this week when I found her sitting atop 3 different devastated gel masses at different times. This time she wasn't letting any eggs get to maturity so I had to pull her. Of course it would have to be my favorite girl. Hoping for a male from the remaining pair now so I can set her up on her own. I am SO running out of room.

Happy Halloween!!!

Happy Halloween everyone! The orange frogs were out in force today to celebrate.

First up, a couple of beautiful Salt Creek kids. Love the belly on the second shot.

And next the Cristobals. I promise I didn't pose that first one. They seemed to be holding a conference when I walked by the tank today. These are all F1s from my trio. I've been very pleased with the way the offspring from these frogs have turned out.

A little closer.

Slightly washed out, but still pretty.

Rambala Babies

The first little 'Rambala' pumilio started coming out of the water this week. Nice coloration so far.

Already on the ground hunting

Ah, what a fun toy Instagram is!

Darkland Kids

Well there is no longer any question as to whether the new Darkland From Eric Malolepsy is a female. The other day I opened the viv and was startled by a tiny little guy flying for cover. I had no clue. Got a couple quick pics before it disappeared into the depths of the foliage.

Maybe this was mom feeding the little one.

Bastimentos FS Babies

I love the diversity in the 1st round of fine spot Basti babies. One has lots of tiny spots, one has slightly random scattered spots, and then there's this guy with almost no spots.

Red Popas

The majority of the popa offspring have looked just like their gold parents, but recently I found a couple reddish froglets. I'm excited to see how their colors turn out in a year or so.

FS Basti Baby

The FS Basti kids have been coming along nicely. As bold as they are throughout the day, when the camera comes out they disappear, so I'm lucky to get the occasional shot. This one wasn't too bad and, though the flash washes out the red, you can still see the fine spots breeding true. Possibly my favorite frogs to date.

Baby Shots

Just when I was about to give up... I found this in the BFS viv this morning. Without seeing any tads in the broms, or feeding from the mom, I thought that this clutch had just been abandoned. Super excited to find this little one!

And this one.

Tales from the Frog Room

A few updates from the frog room. The Frye Darkland pair unfortunately turned out to be two very volatile males, which quickly had to be separated; the Frye Golfitos have been cautiously getting to know their new home; and the rest of the quarantined frogs got a clean bill of health from Wasatch Exotic Pet Care and went into their permanent homes this week. The fine spot Bastimentos and Rambalas settled in and started exploring right away. It's been difficult to get pictures, but here are a couple that show their coloring fairly well.

One of the Golfitos has decided this film canister is his/her favorite spot to hang out.  I can almost always find him/her there.

I found one of the Popa kids running around today. This is the first time I've seen them since right after they came OOTW over two months ago.

F1 Isla Popa Golden
And lastly, the first of the Bastimentos Salt Creek kids went to their new home with Ed. I couldn't be happier with this placement! He took the first calling male from my F1s and an unrelated female that I purchased with the group. She was too young to sex until she paired with my male last month so I figured she'd be a good match for this little guy. I know Ed will take great care of them!
